Sensex, Nifty extend rally; Ambuja, UltraTech Cement surge

AMBUJA SEMENT

The market extended rally in afternoon trade with the Sensex rising 194.69 points to 25147.43. The Nifty is inching closer to 7700, up 55.80 points to 7660.15 led by buying in FMCG, banking & financials and oil stocks.
The market breadth was positive as about 1357 shares advanced against 1173 declining shares on the Bombay Stock Exchange.
Ambuja Cements, UltraTech Cement, Bharti Airtel, Punjab National Bank, ACC, SBI, Tata Motors and HUL topped buying list, up 2-5 percent while Lupin, Hero Motocorp, BHEL, Asian Paints and Wipro were down 1-2 percent.

US Markets : Oil rally lifts Wall Street, extending tight correlation

US stocks rose in low volume on Wednesday, led once more by the direction of the price of oil and energy sector shares.

Crude oil and US equity prices have been linked for much of 2016 to a degree that has surprised many investors. Wednesday’s market action extended that trend, with WTI crude CLc1 rising nearly 5 percent and the S&P 500 energy sector .SPNY up 1.5 percent. Chevron jumped 4.6 percent to USD 92.82 and gave the biggest boost to the energy sector.

The Dow Jones industrial average rose 36.26 points, or 0.21 percent, to 17,000.36, the S&P 500 gained 10 points, or 0.51 percent, to 1,989.26 and the Nasdaq Composite added 25.55 points, or 0.55 percent, to 4,674.38.

Nifty still above 7450, Sensex up over 300 pts; auto gains



Up arrow__greenThe market is still on a rise. The Sensex is up 340.11 points or 1.4 percent at 24583.09, and the Nifty jumps 100.05 points or 1.4 percent at 7468.90. About 1547 shares have advanced, 873 shares declined, and 134 shares are unchanged.
Tata Steel, Hindalco, BHEL, Tata Motors and L&T are top gainers while ICICI Bank, Lupin, Maruti and ITC are down.

Epic Research Update : Asian Markets
Markets in Asia shrugged off a slow start early Monday to trade higher, with major indexes in China, Japan and Hong Kong leading gains.
The Japanese benchmark index, the Nikkei 225, which wavered between gains and losses after market open, was up 0.77 percent. The Japanese yen remained strong against the dollar at its 112-level, but the dollar-yen pair gained 0.35 percent, trading at 112.93 by 9.40 a.m. HK/SIN time.
Across the Korean Strait, the Kospi erased early losses to trade up 0.16 percent.
In Hong Kong, the Hang Seng index was up by 1.12 percent.

Indian ADRs ended mixed on Wednesday.
In the IT space,
Infosys was up 0.01 percent at USD 16.35 and Wipro gained 0.05 percent at USD 11.24.
In the banking space,
ICICI Bank was down 0.03 percent at USD 5.85 and HDFC Bank rose 0.04 percent at USD 57.06.
In the other sectors,
Tata Motors fell 0.55 percent at USD 22.41 and Dr Reddy’s Laboratories shed 0.21 percent at USD 41.71.
