Asia markets rise, with Nikkei up 0.6%, Shanghai up 0.7%

Epic Research Update : Asian Markets


Asia markets traded higher on Monday after most were shut for Good Friday, with a weaker yen helping to bolster Japan shares.
Japan’s benchmark Nikkei 225 was up 0.63 percent, while the Topix added 0.55 percent in early trade. Across the Korean Strait, the Kospi added 0.1 percent.
Chinese markets were also higher, with the Shanghai composite adding 0.65 percent, while the Shenzhen composite was higher by 1.28 percent.

Sensex falls 100 pts, Nifty breaks 7450; banks, pharma drag

Equity benchmarks as well as broader markets continued to consolidate with a negative bias. Banking & financials, healthcare and select auto stocks fell while index heavyweights ITC, Infosys and Reliance Industries supported.
The Sensex declined 106.62 points to 24444.55 and the Nifty slipped 25.80 points to 7434.80. The BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices fell 0.7 percent and 0.3 percent, respectively.
Shares of HDFC, Sun Pharma, Tata Motors, Lupin, M&M, Dr Reddy’s Labs and Bharti Airtel declined 1-2 percent while ITC gained more than 1 percent.

US Markets : Wall Street ends flat as Draghidisappoints

Epic Research Update : US Markets

US stock indexes ended a volatile session little changed on Thursday after the European Central Bank reduced interest rates but ECB chief Mario Draghi confounded investors who expected multiple rate cuts by saying more were unlikely. Stocks jumped early in the day after the ECB pushed its deposit rate deeper into negative territory and increased its asset-buying program to 80 billion euros a month from 60 billion in an effort to boost growth in the region.
The Dow Jones industrial average fell 5.23 points, or 0.03 percent, to 16,995.13, the S&P 500 gained 0.31 points, or 0.02 percent, to 1,989.57 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 12.22 points, or 0.26 percent, to 4,662.16.
