South Korea’s Kospi index edged up in early trade, recovering modestly from Tuesday’s two-week closing low.
China’s Shanghai Composite index opened up 0.5 percent while Hong Kong equities traded near the flatline. Shares of HSBC remained dismal, down 1.3 percent, after news that the British banking giant helped more than 100,000 wealthy individuals avoid paying tax.
