Rupee opens 9 paise up at 68.68 against dollar

The rupee on Thursday made a sedate start, up 9 paise, at 68.68 against the dollar. A fall in global crude prices buoyed sentiment in the domestic currency market despite trade war escalation between the US and China. Traders also remained wary ahead of IIP and retail inflation data, according to PTI.

Asia stocks slip, yen rises as US raises stakes in trade conflict

MSCI’s broadest index of Asia-Pacific shares outside Japan fell 0.4%. The index had gained for the past two sessions, having enjoyed a lull from the trade war fears that lashed global markets last week.

Wall Street snaps four-day rally; latest trade threat weighs

The Dow Jones Industrial Average fell 219.21 points or 0.88% to 24,700.45, the S&P 500 lost 19.82 points or 0.71% to 2,774.02 and the Nasdaq Composite dropped 42.59 points or 0.55% to 7,716.61.

Rupee opens 2 paise lower against US dollar

The rupee on Wednesday opened 2 paise lower at 68.84 against the US dollar. The domestic unit on Tuesday fell 10 paise to close at 68.82 due to fresh buying of the dollar by importers after the greenback rebounded in global markets on waning trade war worries.

Global indices gain with US markets adding up to 2% despite tariff war; Asian markets drag

For the week, the Dow increased 0.7% the S&P 500 rose 1.5% and the Nasdaq gained 2.4 percent while on the other hand, the Nikkei fell 2.3% while on the other hand, Hang Seng shed 2.2%.
Shanghai for the week closed down 3.5%.

US jobs growth lifts Wall Street, offsetting tariffs

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 99.74 points, or 0.41%, to 24,456.48, the S&P 500 gained 23.21 points, or 0.85 percent, to 2,759.82 and the Nasdaq Composite added 101.96 points or 1.34% to 7,688.39.
